Goodbye Spidey?

A while back, I talked about how I was a rock star, facetiously of course. I think I mentioned how my guitar was modified to look like Spider-Man's mask. Well, I think I also mentioned that I'd put a picture up some day. Well, now is a good time as any because I have decided to get a new pickguard. I kinda want to play a guitar that looks like an adult owns it. I still think it's cool, but you know. Have to get the pickguard custom made though, because the guitar is long since discontinued. Gonna go matte black, which I think will look nice with the the dark blue of the guitar. I saw the exact scheme on another guitar and liked it.

Well, anyway, here it is. Spidey, as he looks today.

  1. Ibanez...nice. At first I thought it was a strat.

  2. Well, it's such a common cut.

It's an Ibanez RX-20. Kind of a beginner guitar, but I made some upgrades back in the day. Obviously replaced the bridge pickup (want to upgrade the neck in the near future), did some bridge and nut work.

If I was also more solvent, I'd replace the tuning machines.

It was my first real guitar (had a reaaaaaal cheapo before that), and I love it. I wish I had kept my other one as well, though, it was a Schecter, and in hindsight, really nice.

  3. Looks good to me, mate. And I know a thing or two about guitars because my son has played in a rock band since he was 12!!!

Hope the Queen is keeping well and being pampered by you.

  4. Hey David.

It's not a bad guitar (though there are a couple of minor upgrades that are non-aesthetic that I'll be making), it's just that Spidey mask makes me feel like I'm playing a kids guitar. If I were in a huge mega band, it'd be cool (and probably done custom and look better. But as it is, it looks goofy. :)

  6. I think it looks pretty good. Not seen that done before.
But if you think that looks like a kids guitar - you should see mine. It has glitter stickers of tigger on it.

Feel free to comment. So that I may respond and possibly mock and ridicule you. Just kidding. Maybe. We'll see what you say first, how about that.
