Did He Use Excessive Amounts of Table Salt During His Meal?

So, lately, I've been seeing a lot of love for one my picks for "completely underrated movies of all time," and I thought I'd spread some of that love around myself.

The movie?

Directed by Peter Jackson (yes, THAT Peter Jackson) and starring Michael J. Fox, The Frighteners is a very dark comedy/horror/thriller about a guy who sees ghosts, and makes friends with them. Together, they have a con going where the ghosts haunt a house, and Fox's character "exorcises" them for cash. However, Fox's character has somewhat of a dark past, and it's about to come back to bite him when people keep mysteriously dying in his small town, and keep dying after encountering him.

Beyond a pretty neat plot, and pretty good SFX for it's day, and has one of the greatest oddball characters in film, Special Agent Milton Dammers (played by Jeffrey Combs). A complete screwball with personal space issues who can't stand to hear a woman yell, he also has dubious interrogation techniques (the post subject is a question he asks to a woman who ate dinner with Fox's character, Frank Bannister).

If you've seen it, give a shout out. If you haven't, take some time and rent it whichever way you rent movies. I know it makes me miss Michael J. Fox that much more. Stupid Parkinson's Disease.

  2. Sold on Milton Dammers alone, I'm out to get it.

How come it always turns out I've never seen anyone else's favourite movies?

Feel free to comment. So that I may respond and possibly mock and ridicule you. Just kidding. Maybe. We'll see what you say first, how about that.
