Odd Shots - No Cash Value

Another photo thing to keep me shooting, though to be fair, this first entry it's all about a shot from the archives.

This shot came from pure improvisation. Nick, the man holding the coin, had found it, and I was messing with my camera at the time. So, I asked him to hold it up for me to take a macro shot of it. What really sells it, I think, is the expression Nick decided to give as I snapped the shot. Rest assured, this isn't his normal expression.

  1. I've seen those coins before -- they are the entrance ticket to get you into something and they usually work in a toll gate that opens when you drop in the coin.

Good odd shot. Actually, that's what our pennies are worth today -- it takes more to mint them than their value!

    Welcome to Odd Shots!

  2. That is a great odd shot. A coin with no value. Speaks volumes eh?

I have put my first odd shot post up today too. Come have a look! (And the post below it is Camera Critters). Thanks.

  3. Not only is the coin odd and your friend's expression, but it is an odd but impressive composition. Welcome to our weekly fun. I will add you to the blogroll.

  4. After reading Paulie's comment I know why I've never seen these: I don't go anywhere! LOL But it's a good idea to put "no value" on it in case somebody tries to use it outside in a store.

  5. Yeah, I know why the coin has no cash value, but it was weird finding it at a university. Should have mentioned that.

Thanks for the warm welcomes, all, and I'll try to do my best to do the rounds with everyone else's Odd Shots in the future.

Feel free to comment. So that I may respond and possibly mock and ridicule you. Just kidding. Maybe. We'll see what you say first, how about that.
