I had to stop and say "hello" after I saw that one of your favorite books is The Crying of Lot 49... it's always a pleasure to meet someone who has read Pynchon... especially that book in particular!!
Here's a haiku my youngest ( she's 9) daughter wrote yesterday:
Five hungry hippos stand dreaming all the long day dreams of a buffet
